FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college offering associate and bachelor???s degree programs in downtown Brooklyn, invites applicants for a full-time lecturer position in the Radiologic Technology and Medical Imaging department. This position will start in Fall 2025. This is a full-time position leading to a certificate of continuous employment (CCE). The faculty member is expected to be committed to excellence in teaching and contribute to sustained service to the department and college, including providing academic advisement for current and potential students.
The Department currently offers a BS degree in Radiological Science and an AAS degree in Radiologic Technology & Medical Imaging. Reporting to the Department Chair, the Lecturer will be expected to teach courses in the core curriculum of both BS and AAS degree programs and carry responsibilities including:
- Teach courses in the diverse offerings of the AAS degree in Radiologic Technology & Medical Imaging and BS degree in Radiological Science, including but not limited to - Introduction to Radiologic Technology, Radiographic Procedures, MR Anatomy, Pathophysiology, and Instrumentation, CT Anatomy, Pathophysiology, and Instrumentation etc.
- Use effective teaching strategies that meet students' diverse needs and engage the students in critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Work collaboratively on department-level efforts, playing an active role in the creation, development, and assessment of new curricula and pedagogy.
- Participate in the preparation of program self-study reports for continuous accreditation.
- Participate actively in Department/College/University-wide initiatives, including undergraduate research.
- Student advisement and guidance for AAS and BS students as needed, to further their careers in industry and/or pursuit of graduate study.
- Participate in faculty assessment and professional development activities to ensure an active and engaging classroom for all students.
- Actively contribute to programmatic assessment efforts.
The ability to work a flexible schedule is expected; day, evening, and weekend teaching and other department duties may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor???s degree in radiological science or other related medical field, and the ability to teach successfully.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master???s degree or higher preferred. Professionals with significant clinical experience in medical imaging with graduate degrees in non-healthcare disciplines may also be considered.
- Interest and ability to develop or teach radiology related liberal arts electives in areas related to imaging physics, medical statistics, radiation biology and healthcare ethics are is desirable.
- Specific focus in MRI or CT modality, in addition to general X-ray background.
- Hold current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in MRI or CT.
- Proficiency in online learning pedagogy preferred.
- Prior research experience in radiological or medical fields is desirable.
COMPENSATION
$76,870 to $88,998. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
