Job Summary: The AMSTI Materials Worker assists with the daily operation of the materials center. Constructs and refurbishes science and math teaching kits per the specifications of AMSTI-UA and AMSTI-SDE. Assists with inventory control through stocking kits and kit supplies, maintaining stock, and rotating stock. Assists with and maintains the organization of the materials center to ensure efficient use of space and safe storage of materials. Maintains a safe work environment.
Additional Department Summary: Delivers scientific equipment, materials, and supplies to high school science teachers in the 9 counties surrounding The University of Alabama. Presents a positive and professional image for The University of Alabama.
Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Skills and Knowledge: Ability to operate University owned motor vehicles while complying with safety codes, state and federal traffic rules, regulations, safe operating practices. Ability to recognize and report mechanical problems. Positive and professional image for the University of Alabama. Proficient in the use of email software or standard desktop software. Ability to compose written reports and updates regarding delivery status. Ability to speak and communicate with teachers and administrators in the West Alabama region regarding equipment deliveries.
