The Medical Office Assistant is responsible for receptionist duties for all staff, patients and visitors for the General Surgery Residency Program. This position will work under the direct supervision of the Director of this program.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with administrative functions including organizing, printing and distributing rotations schedules and weekly educational conference schedules.
  • Answers, screens and routes telephone inquiries to appropriate party.
  • Organize all aspects of new resident orientation.
  • Process reimbursement requests from residents and maintain records of educational expenditures.
  • Coordinate administrator's schedule; invites and notifies participants
  • Opens and distributes mail; transmits correspondence and medical records by mail, e-mail, or fax
  • Assure that residents complete Graduate Medical Education Requirements in Learning and Core Competency modules.
  • Document records to ensure residents completed ATLS, ACLS and FLS as required by the American Board of Surgery.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


  • Minimum Qualifications Required:

    1. High School diploma or equivalent.
