Please review the following job description:

Perform and supervise others in the performance of asset management duties for commercial mortgage loans on behalf of the lender, with a particular focus on the collateral (income-producing real estate) in a default situation.

Grandbridge is seeking a highly experienced Asset Management professional skilled in special servicing and defaulted loan workouts to join our growing Special Servicing Asset Management department. This role will be responsible for the day-to-day management and resolution of a portfolio of loans consisting primarily of specially serviced loans within CMBS and CLO securitizations, in addition to other distressed loan and REO assets. This experienced candidate will also be actively engaged in underwriting potential new debt investments, along with participating in special projects as the Special Servicing platform grows and evolves with market conditions. The ideal candidate will have a blend of commercial real estate debt experience, alongside exceptional communication and leadership skills.  This position may require the supervision and oversight of a team of Asset Managers and support staff focused on portfolios of specially serviced loans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactive oversight and timely resolution of a portfolio of specially serviced CMBS & CLO loans and other distressed debt assets;
  • Identify and implement effective strategies for the management and disposition of REO assets;
  • Ability to negotiate complex loan structures, and oversee transactions through the legal documentation phase;
  • Comprehensive analysis and understanding of collateral and loan positioning, value determination, and restructuring alternatives;
  • Engagement of and interaction with third party consultants including attorneys, receivers, management/leasing companies, appraisers, and environmental engineers;
  • Thorough understanding of and compliance with the governing loan documents, loan servicing agreements, REMIC regulations, investor reporting requirements and state and federal laws governing foreclosures, receivership actions, and bankruptcies;
  • Presentation and recommendation of resolution strategies to company leadership;
  • Quarterly business plan and cash flow preparations and projections;
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities;
  • Initiative, including the ability to complete complex tasks timely and independently.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university is required, preferably in a related course of study like Commercial Real Estate or Finance;
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the workout of non-performing commercial real estate loans or debt asset management;
  • Advance knowledge of commercial real estate, fixed income and general financial concepts;
  • Strong decision making skills with the ability to take action in solving problems while exhibiting judgement and a realistic understanding of issues;
  • Knowledge of bank, conventional, agency, private credit, and/or commercial mortgage-backed securities origination and servicing is recommended;
  • Ability to underwrite commercial real estate and/or residential acquisition, development and construction transactions, as well as possess excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Willingness to perform overnight travel to meet with the borrowers, guarantors, property managers, brokers, attorneys and site inspectors, and other related parties;                                                                                                                                                                                        
  • High level proficiency working with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, in addition to a basic competency working with Argus and CRE Market Data Providers;
  • Adaptable and flexible team player, who can collaborate with various internal and external teams while driving projects forward efficiently;
  • Established relationships with firms purchasing B piece tranches is preferred;
  • Potential to oversee team of Special Servicing Asset Managers, and provide training to less experienced staff members in sound collection and workout practices
