Opportunity summary: As a Pressroom Manager you will be responsible for managing direct report supervisors and manufacturing activities of Smurfit Westrock's Dallas Cards facility. The Pressroom Manager identifies, documents, and drives departmental metrics for Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost and Waste. You will ensure that jobs are built appropriately and efficiently to ensure high quality products are produced on time to meet and exceed customer expectations.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

  • Provide leadership and direction including overseeing production, materials, equipment, and tools to ensure efficiency is maintained and projects remain on schedule
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and projects to reduce printing waste, minimize downtime/set-up time, and identify additional opportunities for efficiencies
  • Ensure zero defects to printing and optimal density color measures to minimize downtime and quality issues
  • Build strong relationships with customers, answering questions, resolving issues, making suggestions to customers/sales representatives regarding workflow/process improvements to proposed jobs to maximize the benefits to both the customer and the company
  • Effectively communicate customer needs to the team and provide recommendations to customer to reduce cost and ensure greater product quality
  • Coordinate production activities with other areas (e.g. procurement, quality assurance) to obtain optimum production and utilization of manpower, machines, and equipment
  • Implement strategic planning/scheduling of the press room workload for maximum throughput and accuracy
  • Proactively manage departmental metrics that impact cost (e.g. set-up times, remakes, waste) to monitor printing crew performance against KPIs
  • Provide coaching and mentoring for supervisors and technicians by identifying training needs for building capability and continued growth
  • Drive employee engagement and create an inclusive culture to motivate participation in continuous improvement initiatives

What you need to succeed:
  • High School diploma or GED is required, bachelor's degree is preferred
  • 3-5+ years manufacturing supervisory experience
  • Proven successful leadership experience with a strong background in printing
  • Familiarity with print production and manufacturing process and equipment
  • Proven record of fostering teamwork and establishing effective safety and reliability programs
  • Proven experience with Lean and continuous improvement
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage time spent on accomplishing tasks to increase productivity and efficiency
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all employees and to customers, both verbally and in writing
  • Team player mindset with demonstrated ability to supervise, lead, and coach others to achieve their goals and objectives
  • Strong math and measurement skills to understand, track, analyze, and report on operating metrics.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software applications
