Position Description:

This position will lead the Maintenance team for execution of day-to-day repair and maintenance activities, preventative and proactive maintenance initiatives, and provide support for site Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and regulatory compliance. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills and the ability to work closely with Operations, Research & Development, Animal Care, Quality, Environmental Health and Safety, and engineering are key components of this position.

Maintenance Manager Responsibilities:

  • Plan, Staff, and Oversee operations of maintenance and utilities for biotech manufacturing, Quality Control, Research & Development, Animal Research, and all other support functions on the De Soto Campus. Limited responsibilities for a remote lab and farm.
  • Responsible for execution of planned work for a multi-shift maintenance team for operations.
  • Oversee planner/scheduler function for direction of day-to-day work order execution by internal and external resources.
  • Accountable for preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Responsible for Building Management System to monitor and alarm operations points for all facility, utility and support systems and response protocol during non-occupied site hours.
  • Responsible for functionality, testing, update and repair of building fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems.
  • Responsible for Process Safety Management Responsibilities as required by our Company's standards.
  • Manage annual service agreements for outside support services.
  • Communicate with area owners regarding short and long-term maintenance service requirements and expectations.
  • Maintain and improve site water system performance for plant wide soft water, de-ionized water, Reverse Osmosis water, Purified Water, Chilled Water, Heating Hot Water, and Fire Water system.
  • Maintain and improve site wastewater treatment system performance, steam generation, boiler performance, heat recovery, and efficiency of boiler and hot water systems.
  • Maintain and improve site electrical system performance for 480V/208V/120V/24V electrical distribution and control.
  • Maintain and improve performance of multiple "Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning" (HVAC) systems.
  • Coordinate and execute Yearly Shutdown as well as scheduled system outages throughout the year, as necessary, for preventative maintenance and emergency repairs.
  • Work with site and corporate Environmental Health and Safety to develop, implement, and execute corporate safety standards.
  • Responsible for execution of all required quality and safety training for maintenance staff.
  • Work with engineering team to develop long term capital plan for utility systems.
  • Interview and hire maintenance team members to effectively staff the organization.


Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates' or Bachelor's degree preferred. Mechanical/Electrical focus highly preferred.


Required Experience and Skills:
  • Five (5) + years of experience in Maintenance, Plant Engineering or Capital Engineering
  • Three (3) + years of demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, mechanical/electrical skills, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with and understanding of maintenance processes, common equipment and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Must possess ability to read and understand technical documents, drawings and specifications.
  • Must possess the ability to interface with and understand the production processes, timing and priorities for the area supported.
  • Must be flexible and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Must be goal-oriented and able to manage risks.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.


Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • Relevant work experience encompassing a working knowledge of USDA/FDA regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with formal problem-solving techniques as it relates to a hands-on approach to problem solving, such as root cause analysis and/or Lean tools.
  • Working knowledge of cGMPs and of regulatory requirements
  • Technical writing experience
