Microgrid Control Engineer-Remote - Military Veterans

As a Microgrid Control Engineer, you will lead the Basis-of-Design around generator/multi-source paralleling controls and multi-function protection relays-based controls involving microgrid solutions, solar photovoltaic, battery energy storage solutions, diesel/natural gas generators and other distributed energy resources (DERs), utilizing commercially available PLC controllers, Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), multi-function protection relays, and concentrators from major OEMs.This is a remote position with 25% travel. Candidate can be located anywhere in the US and must be a US citizen.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support efforts to optimize distributed energy generation systems design, output, basis of design, physical site layout and site access
  • Support the creation and submission of interconnection requests with the local Utility for distributed energy projects and analyze study results
  • Follow customers specifications and internal specifications for project implementation
  • Select components and create bill of materials
  • Prepare submittal documentation for projects and meet with customers to discuss project requirements and review submittals
  • Provide sketches, mark-ups, and direction to Electrical Designers to develop project drawings
  • Prepare customer submittals, Sequence of Operation, and test procedures
  • Assist with factory testing and field start-ups as required
  • Troubleshoot systems that are not functioning properly
  • Work with microgrid concepts, including islanding operation,

    grid-connected operation, energy management, control strategies, and power

    flow management within a microgrid system
  • Provide technical support to the proposals team

COMPENSATION
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Connecticut, and Hawaii is 125k-175k. For Washington and most major metropolitan areas in New York & California, the annual base salary range is 125k-175k. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.

This position is incentive plan eligible.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution
  • 5+ years of experience in power distribution controls applications
  • Understanding of Microgrid applications
  • Knowledge of power monitoring and control systems and associated protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC-61850)
  • Knowledge ofDERs (PV, BESS, and Generators)

WE VALUE

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Understanding of microgrid control systems and automation technologies, such as supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, energy management systems (EMS), Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), HMIs, Remote Terminal Units (RTUs)
  • Knowledge of power electronics and their application in renewable energy systems and microgrids, including inverters, converters, and other power electronic devices to interface and control DERs
  • Experience with protection & control design concepts, including one-lines, three-lines, schematics, wiring, etc.
