Job Description:

Parsons is seeking an exceptionally talented Senior Geotechnical and Tunneling Engineer to join our team of experts in Dubai. We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience in executing Metro/Subway projects. The ideal candidate will provide expertise and guidance in planning, designing, constructing, and maintaining TBM tunnels for an upcoming metro/subway project. The ideal candidate will advise on technical aspects and geotechnical analysis and ensure the implementation of best practices in tunnel design and construction.

In this role, you will provide technical leadership and direction for various phases of a significant rail and transit program, ensuring on-schedule completion within or below budget and in accordance with contractual obligations.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Possess experience in design review, design optimization, and construction administration for geotechnical efforts and Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) tunneling within rail infrastructure projects.

  • Demonstrate extensive experience in preparation and review of geotechnical and tunneling design criteria manuals, technical reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications.

  • Provide advice on the selection of appropriate tunneling methods, including TBM, based on project requirements and site conditions.

  • Review and oversee detailed geotechnical analyses to assess ground conditions and potential risks.

  • Evaluate and recommend suitable tunneling techniques.

  • Offer technical expertise and guidance on tunneling methods, design, and construction practices.

  • Collaborate and liaise with project managers and engineers to develop and optimize tunnel design and construction plans.

  • Identify potential technical challenges and develop innovative solutions to address them.

  • Monitor and oversee the construction of geotechnical and tunneling works to ensure compliance with design specifications and industry standards.

  • Collaborate with the Contractor to identify and resolve any geotechnical or tunneling issues that arise during construction.

  • Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to present design concepts and project updates.

  • Ensure adherence to all corporate, contractual, ethical, and safety standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations, environmental standards, and safety protocols. Supervise the acquisition of necessary permits and approvals from relevant authorities.

  • Monitor and report to management on the progress of relevant project activities, including significant milestones and any conditions that could affect project cost or schedule.

  • Participate in discussions with regulatory agencies and in public meetings to support clients.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree In Engineering, or equivalent from a recognized university.

  • Chartered Engineer status is ideal.

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in Identify and resolve any geotechnical or tunneling issues that arise during construction.

  • Must have Metro/Subway experience.

  • GCC experience is preferred.

  • Must have experience in a consultancy environment or in client facing roles

  • Effective oral and written skills for client presentations, technical reporting, and internal + external correspondence; Ability to effectively present information to key stakeholders as required by the client

  • Understanding of the delivery process and the functions inherent to construction management of large-scale projects

  • Understanding of budget development and cost accounting

  • Ability to interface with all levels with project team, client, and others

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents

  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints

  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of support function problems

  • Ability to function in a multi-organizational environment by developing relationships that complies with the client’s proactive, collaborative culture.
