Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary Position oversees the management of Research Administration and support functions of the Research Sections of the Department. Assists the Director of Research in maintaining the goals and objectives of the department by managing the clinical research, research, administrative and support functions. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Responsible for the oversight of the department research administration and day-to-day management of this function. Monitors and oversees the reporting of specific funds and budgets. Oversight for Recharge Centers. Monitor service agreements for department common equipment. Oversee Department training grants and career awards. Assists the Director in the evaluation of a variety of research functions. Monitors available sponsored funds and allocated departmental subsidy for principal investigators. Supervises Research Administrative personnel. Monitors compliance of research in the department with internal and external policies and procedures for the conduct of research. Identifies areas needing improvement and suggests solutions to problems providing procedures for the Director and to approve and implement. Oversees purchasing for discretionary, clinical study, sponsored research and gift accounts. Oversees expenses on clinical trials and laboratory research funds. Interviews, hires, trains, and reviews the performance of staff. Serves as liaison in matters relating to research activities between the department, the school of medicine, the university and external agencies. More About This Job Preferred Qualifications: Thorough knowledge of OMB Circular No. A-2 1. Extensive knowledge of NIH rules and regulations for sponsored projects and an understanding of recharge centers. Thorough understanding of the grant life cycle for program project grants, institutional training grants, K12 training grants, Interdisciplinary Center Core grants, CDC contracts and R01 grants. Ability to take action in solving problems while exhibiting judgment and a realistic understanding of issues. Ability to organize or schedule people or tasks, to develop realistic plans while being sensitive to the needs of different constituencies, time constraints and resource availability. The ability to clearly and effectively present ideas, document activities, read and interpret written information such as federal, state and internal guidelines and requirements. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
