Our Client supports current US Department of Defense projects in the Republic of Niger, Africa. This is a Journeyman's position. This opportunity is for skilled Electricians educated to the Journeyman level, and having verifiable minimum experience, and accepted certification, licensure and/or technical degree. Responsibilities attached to this position require minimal supervision.

Duties
  • Installs, tests and repairs grounding systems in accordance with accepted codes, standards, and manufacturer's recommendations
  • Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials
  • Provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes
  • Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring
  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit using tools such as hacksaw, pipe threader and conduit bender
  • Pulls wiring through conduit, assisted by electrician helper
  • Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, using knife or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps per accepted codes and standards
  • Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment, using hand tools
  • Installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts, using hand tools and power tools
  • Connects power cables and ground leads to equipment and other electrical utilization equipment such as motors, HVAC units, etc.
  • Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments, such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.
  • Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustment, relocation, or replacement
  • May repair faulty equipment or systems
  • May provide data to Automated Information Systems (AIS)
  • May connect pier electrical systems at seaport
  • Performs duties in accordance with
    • US Army Regulations
      • AR 710-2 – Supply Policy Below the National Level
      • AR 735-5 Property Accountability Policies
      • AR 420–1 Army Facilities Management
      • AR 190-11 Physical Security of Arms, Ammunitions, and Explosives
    • Department of Defense Uniform Facilities Criteria (UFC)
    • Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services (DLADS) disposal guidelines
  • Requires minimal supervision.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Journeyman Electrician's License, any US State
  • Minimum four years Electrician experience
    • Completion of an accredited Technical School Degree and Electrician's Apprentice Program
    • Or 8,000 hours of on-the-job training under the supervision of a licensed Master Electrician
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must exceed Background Check Security standards
  • Must pass Fit-for-Duty Physical Examination
