Job Overview Provide comprehensive leadership for facility and operational needs of the Campus Recreation Center (CRC) and multiple satellite facilities. A member of the senior leadership team, responsibilities include facility and project management, oversight of custodial, maintenance and building systems, staff management and success, strategic planning, fiscal development and oversight, and establishment of policies and procedures. Essential Functions Serve as a senior leadership team member and collaborate to develop and achieve the department's mission, vision and goals. Provide direct and indirect supervision to full-time staff including hire, train, coach, supervise, evaluate and establish performance plans and provide indirect supervision to student staff. Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the Facilities and Operations team, fostering a positive, inclusive and productive work environment. Provide oversight for facility and operational needs, including project coordination and management, HVAC, event management, climbing wall programming and operations, event coordination, facility scheduling and staffing. Work collaboratively with Facilities Management to establish priorities, responsibilities, and schedules to ensure safe, clean and well-maintained facilities. Conduct regular safety inspections. Collaborate with key stakeholders to purchase facility and fitness equipment, conduct preventative maintenance, repairs, replacement, and coordinate layout and installation. Serve as primary point of contact and coordinate construction and renovation projects by working closely with Campus Recreation team, architects, and contractors. Oversee contracts and agreements with vendors, suppliers, and service providers for capital purchases. Interpret and apply industry standard best practices in the formulation and coordination of safety and risk management policies, procedures, and equipment, including building access, security systems, video cameras and two-way radios, as well as general technology equipment that includes stereo systems, WiFi, and audio/visual components. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, implement safety protocols, address safety concerns or incidents, maintain record of accident and incident reports, monitor policies and procedures and may provide point of contact with UC Risk Management, Police Department and Student Conduct and Community Standards. Provide fiscal development and oversight in area of responsibility for annual operating and capital budgets. Prioritize and approve purchase requests and expenditure and resolve budget discrepancies. Collect, analyze and prepare reports including facility data, usage numbers, member feedback and recommendations. Maintain professional knowledge and strong understanding of best practices for facility and operational trends for implementation of appropriate products, equipment and services. May be assigned special projects, initiatives, and directives to support Campus Recreation, Campus Services and the University. Actively participate in department, division and university committees. Lead by example to experience firsthand use of the facilities. Requires occasional weekend and evening hours. Perform related duties based on departmental need. Required Education Bachelor's Degree Nine (9) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement Required Trainings/Certifications Certification/Licensure: American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers with First Aid certification. Must be certified within six (6) months of employment. Required Experience Five (5) years of direct and progressive experience with facility operations, maintenance practices, custodial services, building systems and safety regulations in a recreation, municipal or athletic setting. Additional Qualifications Considered Three (3) years of full-time, professional staff supervision. Previous experience hiring, training, developing, and evaluating staff. Experience in developing and managing operating and capital budgets that involve multiple cost centers. A strong background in facilities and operations, including facility supervision, maintenance and housekeeping services, project coordination and execution, event planning, facility scheduling and risk management. Demonstrated leadership, development and supervision of staff while upholding performance standards. Work independently and in a team-based environment with initiative. Possess analytical skills and demonstrated ability to identify problems, assess alternatives, and render consistent and logical decisions. Strong professional communication. Prioritize and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines. Ability to thrive in an environment that values collaboration, high expectations, high quality results and an appreciation for detail. Has a passion for student and staff development and mentoring young professionals. Knowledge of various related systems, including Rec Automation, Connnect2Concepts, Microsoft Office, SubItUp, and Canva. Ability to assist in event setup and equipment relocation that may require lifting over 45lbs.
