Job Summary: The School of Architecture (SoA or School) in the College of Architecture, Planning, and Public Affairs ( CAPPA ), at the University of Texas at Arlington ( UTA ) welcomes applications for a faculty position to be appointed at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor Essential Duties: The School of Architecture welcomes applications for a faculty position to be appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor on the tenure track, or Associate or Full Professor with tenure. Under a university-wide hiring plan entitled RISE 100 (details below), the School is seeking a catalytic, collaborative leader who can innovatively contribute to the college's evolving design research and externally funded agenda. The goal of this position is to enhance academic and research activities that advance the mission of the School and maintain its national reputation as a distinguished leader in design education. The ideal candidate should have an entrepreneurial mindset, established research and/or professional portfolio with appropriate external funding, and an ability to build cross-disciplinary teams in the College, UTA , and external organizations. Successful candidates will exhibit potential to substantively contribute to the discipline of architecture, develop innovative pedagogy, and apply the principles of making in their work and teaching. The candidate must demonstrate exceptional ability to teach design courses in the Architecture or Interior Design programs. Areas of Emphasis The School is seeking to foster innovation in applied research for the built environment. We invite applicants with expertise in one or more of, but not limited to, these areas: Advanced computational design, technologies, and research focused on digital fabrication and/or manufacturing Material science research relative to future-focused, sustainable built environments Building performance and analysis focused on integrated architectural solutions Emerging technologies related to AI/VR/AR and immersive environments with demonstrated design outcomes Applicants should have an established agenda of scholarship and an articulated, distinct line of inquiry as it contributes to the making of architecture. Research and/or creative practice are essential in reinforcing the connection between the School's mission, the professional community, and the disciplines of design. Evidence of collaborative work is especially encouraged.
