Job Summary: The Theatre Arts and Dance Department at the University of Texas at Arlington seeks a tenure-track professor in theatre education and applied theatre. In addition to heading applied theatre efforts, the successful candidate will be a specialist with experience in one or more performance practice areas such as but not limited to: dance, acting, devising, dramaturgy, playwriting, directing, or musical theatre. This role includes teaching the core Theatre Arts Teaching Lab course to majors in our Theatre Education program, launching in 2025; advising theatre education students; placement and supervision of student teaching; and other faculty service as assigned. This colleague will also maintain an active research practice in scholarship and/or creative activity related to theatre education or cognate areas. Required: PhD or MFA in Theatre Education, Theatre, Dance, or related field. Experience in public or private school teaching at the elementary and/or secondary level. Current Texas state K-12 teaching Licensure is required before the start date of September 1, 2025. Preferred: university teaching experience. Practical applied theatre experience as a teaching artist in theatres and/or community organizations.
