Job Summary: Perform skilled work in all phases of operation and maintenance of utility equipment in the Thermal Energy Plant, Housing/University Center and Physical Plant. Insure consistent and continuous supply of generated utilities; perform proper and timely maintenance and operation of utility equipment. Essential Duties: Maintain engineering logs and equipment status. Record results of water equipment status. Conduct water analysis. Disassemble, repair and reassemble operating devices. Notify energy plant supervision in the event of an accident or serious malfunction. Serve in the after-hours service call center and relay messages to the proper personnel as to maintain smooth campus operations. Operation and maintenance of high-pressure steam boilers, centrifugal refrigeration machines, cooling towers, compressors, pumps and related equipment. Read and record pressures, temperatures, fluid levels and other operating conditions. Perform required preventive maintenance work. Clean, repair, oil and/or paint equipment, piping or building structure. Ability to drive UTA vehicle. Performs related duties as required. Required Qualifications: High School diploma/ GED or three (3) years of experience. Three (3) years of experience in the operation and/or maintenance of steam or chilled water generating equipment. Preferred Qualifications: Five (5) years of experience in a related field.
