The Department of Counseling, Health and Kinesiology at Texas A&M University-San Antonio invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Counselor Education to begin in the Fall of 2025. The position is a full-time, 9-month appointment that requires teaching, scholarly activity, service, and student advisement. Our counseling programs aim to fulfill the needs of an increasingly diverse mental health workforce and the successful candidate should demonstrate a commitment to and success in working in varied communities. The Department offers CACREP-accredited masters level programs in clinical mental health counseling; marriage, couple, and family counseling; and school counseling. The successful candidate will teach 18 graduate credit hours per 9-month academic term with reassigned time available for service appointments serving the broader program and department. Additional activities include maintaining an active research agenda; supervising master's level students; assisting with CACREP accreditation maintenance; fulfilling service responsibilities to the Department and the University; and contributing to advancing the counseling profession. Responsibilities also include working collaboratively with colleagues in the Department, the College of Education and Human Development, and the University, as well as with community partners. Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications Required Education and Experience: Earned doctorate in counselor education from a CACREP-accredited program; Credentialed or credential eligible as a Professional School Counselor and/or Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas; Documented experience providing client services within the areas of the applicants specialization; Commitment to the counseling profession as demonstrated by membership and service within state, regional, and/or national counseling organizations; Teaching experience in higher education settings Evidence of scholarly potential/productivity; and Experience working with a range of individuals from different backgrounds. Preferred Education and Experience: Experience working as a Professional School Counselor; Experience supervising practicum and internship counseling students or provisionally licensed counselors; Experience advising and mentoring graduate students; and Program-level service and/or coordination experience.
