St. Catherine University invites applications for a Public Safety Supervisor within the Public Safety Department.
Our Public Safety Department provide help and support to students, employees, and visitors, creating a safe and secure campus community. The department takes a proactive and preventative approach to campus safety, and has officers on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Public Safety Supervisor shall insure that all policies and procedures are followed, proper notifications are made, and proper documentation is prepared. The Public Safety Supervisor may also be responsible for scheduling staff, ensuring safety details are assigned and completed as assigned, maintaining uniforms, equipment, found and confiscated property, security office organization, reference material, and office files and fulfilling other duties as assigned.
The Public Safety Supervisor also has 'On-Call' duty, which is on a rotating schedule with their fellow supervisors.
Responsibilities:
- Supervising of Public Safety Officers.
- Ensuring all policies and procedures are followed, with proper notifications made, and accurate documentation prepared.
- Scheduling Public Safety Officers shifts staff, ensuring safety details are assigned and completed as assigned.
- Maintaining uniform inventory, equipment, found and confiscated property, security office organization, training documentation, and office files.
- Participating with campus investigations as requested.
- Monitoring campus security camera system.
- Providing crime prevention information and education to the campus community.
- Planning and coordinating campus events or requests.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Current driver's license and an acceptable driving record
- Four years of full-time Public Safety Officer experience or people management experience that includes the following:
- Customer service.
- De-escalation of people and situations.
- Use of security hardware and software to include card access and security cameras
- Working with local police to establish good relationships and build good community partnerships
- Identifying and addressing concerning behavior exhibited by patrons and/or staff
- Ensuring employee safety including safety escorts
- Securely managing a property
- Developing and implementing safety and security procedures
- A current and valid driver's license with an eligible driving record
- Computer skills using the Google and Microsoft Office suite
- A degree can substitute for two years of PSO or people management experience. Resident Assistant (RA) experience can substitute for up to one year of PSO experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A four year Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Two or more years demonstrated leadership and increasing levels of responsibility is preferred.
- A valid drivers license, certified first aid, CPR, AED, ability to pass criminal background check,
- Basic computer skills, written and spoken communication skills
- Ability to respond to varied dynamic, stressful incidents and make critical decisions in a timely manner with limited supervision.
- Demonstrable community engagement experience preferred.
