Visiting Assistant Professor of Anthropology (Linguistics) | Oberlin College - Military Veterans

Job Summary: The Department of Anthropology at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time non-continuing faculty position in the College of Arts and Sciences in Linguistics with a specialization in Phonetics and/or Phonology. Appointment to this position will be for a term of 1 year beginning Fall 2025, and will carry the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor. Responsibilities: The incumbent will teach a total of five courses in the general area of Linguistics, including two sections of Fundamentals of Linguistics, which is the core course for our Linguistics minor and a prerequisite for upper-level Linguistics courses. Additional upper-level courses of interest include Phonetics and/or Phonology, as well as other courses connecting the study of language to the understanding of culture and society. Possibilities might include language documentation; sociophonetics; language and gender; language endangerment and revitalization; etc. Required qualifications: Among the qualifications required for appointment is the Ph.D. degree (in hand or ABD ). Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching.
