Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$70,500 - $200,200

Data Scientist, Editing and Genomics

Eli Lilly and Company is seeking a Data Scientist to join our team in Boston, MA.

Come join the rapidly expanding Editing & Genomics team at Eli Lilly! We are responsible for inventing, characterizing, and advancing novel genome editing reagents for a myriad of clinical applications. Our team works cross-functionally within our organization across multiple disease areas and platforms. Our goal is to deliver on the promise of gene editing to patients around the world.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in data collection, cleaning, and preprocessing to ensure high-quality datasets for inhouse data. 
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify trends and patterns.
  • Work in a matrix team of bioinformaticians and other data scientists to develop and implement machine learning models.
  • Create visualizations and reports to communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices in data science.
  • Stay updated with the latest tools and techniques in data science and analytics.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in computer science, bioinformatics, or related field.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Understanding of NGS technology, and downstream-omics data analysis (RNAseq, ATACseq, ChIPseq, etc)
  • Expert working knowledge in either Python or R
  • Experience working in a Linux HPC environment and cloud-computing platforms (e.g., AWS)
  • Familiarity with electronic laboratory notebooks (e.g., Benchling)

  • This role may require up to 10-15% travel for conferences or training
