Compensation :
Pay Range: $15.50 - $19.50 / hour

Multiple Shifts Available:
UAB Medicine supports work/life balance. The shifts available on this unit are:
- Full time AM: 3 12-hour shifts per week (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM)
- Full time PM: 3 12-hour shifts per week (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM)

Job Description :
To assume responsibility for certain technical aspects of patient care as directed by the RN/LPN for the hospital. To obtain and record vitals, weight, inputs and outputs. To successfully complete an in-house PCT training program. To demonstrate an awareness of patient and personal safety.

Responsibilities:

* Assist patient with everyday needs, including bathing, restroom/bedpan assistance, etc.

* To assume responsibility for certain technical aspects of patient care as directed by the RN/LPN for the hospital

* Monitor vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respirations, weights, input and outputs)

* Obtain EKGs

* Draw blood and perform finger sticks

* Obtain fluid samples or other specimens for testing

* Assist nursing staff in administering basic treatments

* Notify nursing staff of any issues or concerns

* Keep patient rooms clean and sanitized

* Ensure rooms have adequate patient care supplies

* Assist patients with particular issues or needs

* Provide appropriate emotional support

* Committed to health care standards

* Demonstrate an awareness of patient and personal safety

* Empathetic and approachable

* Work as a part of the health care team

* Successful completion of PCT orientation

* CPR certified within 30 days of employment

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required. Certified with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within thirty (30) days of date of employment required.
