Quality Control Evaluator - Military Veterans

Purpose/Scope

Performs duties of quality control inspector/ in testing, evaluation, validation of processes, and training of distribution center work force in TQM. Performs first article inspection as required, validates processes through statistical sampling and other measuring techniques. Is TQM point of contact for distribution mission. Reviews inventory process, COSIS process, packaging and shipping processes to ensure continued emphasis on continuous process improvement. Works independently and reports directly to Operations Director, who has QA responsibility for distribution center operations.

Responsibilities

Identifies, examines, classifies, inspects and reports on specific and general issues of quality assurance and TQM. Examinations may be visual or require measuring devices and techniques.

~Able to use basic processes of inspection/examination procedures for material.

~Able to read specifications, drawings, prints, schematics and photographs.

~Able to successfully certify in Safety, HAZMAT and Radioactive training requirements. Must be current in all certifications within 30 to 60 days of selection for position.

~Perform first article inspections as required.

~Prepare labels as required.

~Prepare reports as required.

~Operate tools and equipment in performance of duties.

~Receive data from and input data to DSS and other automated systems in performance of duties.

~Operate MHE (forklifts, warehouse tractor) as assigned and hold appropriate license.

~Count, weigh, record data, apply tags and labels.

~Able to make preventive maintenance adjustments to related equipment.

Minimum Knowledge

Minimum one-year general experience. Minimum one-year specific experience in areas of inspection, quality assurance, and related areas. Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Accounting or related area required. May substitute experience for education at the rate of one year of specific experience for one year of college. Must have demonstrated ability to obtain certifications required for position. Must be able to use DSS and other automated distribution systems used at site. Must be able to follow requirements of MIL STD 129.

Work Environment

Shop environment with hazardous equipment, moving MHE, obstacles and high-volume activity. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds for short distances, stoop, bend, kneel, walk, have full dexterity, and correctable vision. Outside work in hot and cold or wet weather is often required. Work environment often has fumes or airborne particles. Noise level is loud. Protective devices are required to avoid injury.
