The Buckeye Brain Aging Lab (B-BAL), directed by Dr. Scott Hayes, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Post Doctoral Scholar. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research on aging, memory, and neurodegenerative diseases using advanced neuroimaging techniques. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team within the Department of Psychology at The Ohio State University, contributing to impactful studies and gaining valuable experience in a supportive and inclusive academic environment. Responsibilities: 70% Research: Plan, design, and conduct neuroimaging and behavioral experiments related to aging, neurodegenerative disease, memory, and modifiable health variables. Execute ongoing research projects and formulate new studies. Collect and analyze neuroimaging and behavioral data using software such as FSL, SPM, CONN, AFNI, or FreeSurfer, and programming languages like Python and MATLAB. Develop model-based analyses of neuroimaging data, interpret results, and prepare research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Assist with grant submissions. 10% Dissemination: Present research findings at conferences. Prepare seminars, talks, or lectures. Assist with the supervision and training of lab members, including undergraduate and full-time research assistants. Collaborate with graduate students on additional research projects and conduct outreach activities. 20% Administrative: Assist with lab management and longitudinal studies of cognitive and brain aging. Handle IRB tasks and annual reports to funding agencies. Train new lab members in lab techniques and protocols. Qualifications: Doctoral degree in cognitive neuroscience, neuropsychology, biomedical engineering, or a closely related field by the time of appointment. Substantial experience in MRI data acquisition and analysis. Expertise with MRI analysis software (FSL, SPM, AFNI, CONN, and/or FreeSurfer) and familiarity with Bash, Python, and/or MATLAB. Experience interpreting neuropsychological data and working with aging or clinical populations is desirable. Keen interest in developing an independent research career. Additional Information: The starting date is flexible. A minimum two-year commitment is required. The position is funded by NIH grants, and the salary will be consistent with NIH guidelines.
