What You Will Do This position will be filled at either the Software Developer 2 or 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
The Software Developer will become part of a highly visible team that manages M365 products for Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). The core of your responsibilities will be to maintain service availability, provide world class customer service to a licensed community of 20,650 users, and to design, participate, and develop technologies that exceed the collaboration needs for LANL. You will provide strong service and application development related to SharePoint and will participate in projects that include the migration of SharePoint on-premises to SharePoint Online. This migration includes the evaluation and redevelopment of supporting workflows and applications that can be found in both SharePoint on-premises and M365.
As a SharePoint Developer, you will primarily work with SharePoint Admins, the M365 Team, and customers to align their needs for site development, workflows, and migrating sites from on-premises to SharePoint Online. LANL currently supports Nintex workflows and features, and each site needs to migrate those workflows based on the new designs implemented for SharePoint Online and for SharePoint subscription edition. Additionally, the developer will support the modernization of classified network SharePoint sites using Nintex, K2, and potentially future SharePoint Online development for those networks.
Software Developer 2 ($83,900 - $136,600)
The successful candidate will perform a full spectrum of development duties, including but not limited to:
- Developing SharePoint sites based on user requirements.
- Provide tier-3 level support utilizing ServiceNow incident management.
- Vendor support related to troubleshooting applications and managing customer expectations.
- Identifying SharePoint sites that require development in order to migrate the site to SharePoint Online.
- Support services related to SharePoint, SQL, and Power Automate / Nintex workflows.
In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, the Software Developer 3 will be required to:
- Develop scripts and processes to automate team tasks.
- Assist in the modernization design processes used to upgrade SharePoint as a service.
- Review and design security solutions to meet compliance guidelines for SharePoint and the data it hosts.
- Design, test and implement services related to SharePoint, SQL, and Power Automate / Nintex workflows.
- Development of Data Loss Prevention techniques that include proper labeling of data types using M365 features.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated competency related to developing sites and applications for SharePoint using JAVA, .NET, and other common programming languages.
- Demonstrated Competency in Web page development and maintenance supporting Web-based tools and utilities.
- Knowledge of the use of test plans and use cases to support the design and operation of SharePoint sites.
- Knowledge of emerging computing technologies in industry related to M365 and SharePoint.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies in order to meet deliverables, deadlines, and budget requirements.
Additional Job Requirements for Software Developer 3:
In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:
- Advanced knowledge of managing server operating systems and applications for SharePoint including the understanding of SQL databases and the dependencies involves with SharePoint as a service.
- Advanced knowledge of hardware and operating systems including system architectures, network infrastructures, and client server principles.
- Advanced Knowledge of Web page development and maintenance including understanding the system requirements to support customer needs.
- Advanced knowledge and experience developing software integration and testing.
- Advanced Knowledge of complex heterogeneous computing infrastructures and understanding how to design compatibility between differing network resources.
- Advanced Knowledge of emerging computing technologies in industry related to M365 and SharePoint.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies including running a small team and keeping them on track to meet deliverables.
Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation .
Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 8 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with Power Automate and Nintex workflow design and implementation.
- Experience migrating SharePoint sites to latest versions of service offerings.
- Experience in managing recharge models for SharePoint.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 services and concepts (Azure AD, Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, Teams, etc.).
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
