Sr. Process Automation Engineer - Military Veterans

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$76,500 - $112,200

Organization Overview:

Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include learning, understanding, troubleshooting and modifying process automation for vertical lift machines, automated storage and retrieval systems, conveyor controls, package sorting systems, building management system, and access control software.  

  • Manage software updates and computer system validation activities. 

  • Regulatory Compliance:  Partner with Quality Assurance to assure that all automation systems meet corporate standards, including, but not limited to: version management, commissioning, qualification, validation, change management, and system maintenance. 

  • Capital Project Management:  Manage process automation and process engineering aspects of capital projects.  Includes identifying user requirements, executing C&Q activities and process automation testing. 

  • Equipment/Facilities Support:  Support maintenance and operations (on assigned equipment set) to ensure all building systems and equipment meet current and future customer and regulatory requirements.  Act as the Responsible Engineer (or backup) for North American Logistics Operations facilities as defined in engineering standards and local SOP’s. 

  • Safety:  Model safe behaviors within daily work. Provide support to the operational areas to address any safety concerns.  Execute projects and activities according to HSE requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS Engineering or applicable work experience. 

  • 2+ years of work experience with automation systems including Rockwell and/or Siemens Programmable Logic Controllers, Metasys Building Management System (BMS), and Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs).

Additional Skills / Preferences:

  • Technical knowledge and work experience with Warehouse Management Systems, Goods to Person Systems, ASRS Control Systems, Automated Guided Vehicles, and Palletizing Robots.

  • Ability to read and comprehend mechanical and electrical schematics.

  • Working knowledge of cGMP’s and Automation Lifecycle Management.

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.  This role must effectively communicate with IT, Management, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, HSE, and outside regulatory inspectors. Must provide regular updates, conduct meetings, and produce presentations. 

  • Strong self-management and organizational skills to effectively manage projects. 

  • Experience with commissioning, qualification and computer system validation requirements. Experience with CAPA (Trackwise) system.

  • Education/Experience to allow designation as Responsible Engineer for process automation systems and process equipment.

  • Familiarity with Johnson Controls Metasys building management system or other building automation system(s).

  • Capital project management experience.

  • Experience with security systems.

  • Experience with computerized maintenance management system (GMARS)

Additional Information:

  • Engineer will be provided a cell phone and is expected to provide off-hours support for critical equipment issues or special projects.

  • Occasional travel to Enfield, CT is required (normally 5 - 15%)

  • Requires occasional off-hours support for equipment operating 24/7.
