The University of Washington?s Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Division of Pediatric Rehabilitation, is offering an outstanding opportunity for a pediatric sports physiatrist to join our faculty at Seattle Children?s Hospital. This will be a full-time academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (without tenure due to source of funding, which is typical of ranked faculty appointments within the department). Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Anticipated start date is Fall 2025, but other dates may be considered. The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Washington is a leading academic department that includes faculty at Seattle Children?s, Harborview Medical Center, the University of Washington Medical Center, and the VA Puget Sound Healthcare System. With more than 140 total salaried faculty, of which 70 are physician faculty, UW Rehabilitation Medicine operates the largest Rehabilitation Medicine program in the Northwest region of the United States. The Division of Pediatric Rehabilitation at Seattle Children?s includes seven physicians, two advanced practice providers, two psychologists, 62 physical therapists, 39 occupational therapists and 32 speech and language pathologists; all are integral members of the department. The majority of Division faculty work takes place at Seattle Children?s Hospita land the hospital?s regional sites of care. We offer a collaborative and multidisciplinary academic environment. As a member of the Division of Pediatric Rehabilitation, the successful candidate will participate in clinical, teaching, and research/scholarship activities and will be expected to fulfill requirements for advancement along the Clinician-Educator pathway of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, University of Washington School of Medicine. Responsibilities will include seeing patients in both the general rehabilitation clinic and the orthopedic clinic, with a focus on sports and musculoskeletal care. This recruitment is part of Seattle Children?s strategic plan for growing orthopedic sports/musculoskeletal care and creating an Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Center. It is a new position that will work as a non-surgical physician counterpart to a new sport surgeon in orthopedics, providing care for the planned increase in patients. There also will be opportunities to supervise trainees, primarily in the clinical setting. Should the candidate desire, there will be an opportunity to attend on the pediatric inpatient rehabilitation unit. While the majority of time will be spent in patient care, there may also be opportunity to collaborate with existing research teams and to develop an independent research portfolio. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. COMPENSATION The base salary range for this position will be $15,000 - $20,194 per month ($180,000 - $247,175 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children?s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by Children?s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Children?s University Medical Group practice plan or a moving allowance or relocation incentive, if applicable. Seattle Children?s is a 350-bed hospital committed to family centered care, patient safety, teaching and research. It serves as the primary pediatric hospital for the Seattle metropolitan and Puget Sound areas as well as the tertiary referral center for the Pacific Northwest states including Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. The Rehabilitation Medicine program at Seattle Children?s operates a 12-bed inpatient unit, a robust consult service, as well as general and specialized outpatient rehabilitation clinics. Must have an MD or DO (or foreign equivalent) Must be board certified in Rehabilitation Medicine and either also (a) be board certified in Pediatrics or (b) have subspecialty certification in Pediatric Rehabilitation Must have at least one (1) year of experience in sports medicine and/or musculoskeletal medicine or have completed fellowship training in sports medicine Must be a licensed physician with a history of medical practice in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Must be eligible to practice medicine in the state of Washington In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or foreign equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
