This position would also assist in the cultivation of microalgae, including media prep, cell counts, and feeding. This position would be responsible for having an operational understanding of the hatchery systems such that the position can conduct routine monitoring (collect and record data) of water quality, flow rates, and pump functions and maintain system functionality. As part of these activities, this position would be expected to collect data and analyze it as needed to meet grant obligations. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Preferred education, professional skills and experience: Bachelor of Science in Biology or a related field and one year of experience in aquaculture (either in a laboratory or commercial setting) and documented evidence of post-undergraduate training in shellfish aquaculture is strongly desired, and/or Graduate work in a relevant field Ability to work and communicate effectively as part of a team working together to achieve safe, efficient, and productive operation of hatchery systems. Ability to keep detailed and accurate accounts of daily operations. Ability to exercise good judgment when encountering problems and the willingness to seek advice/assistance from supervisor or colleague.
