Job Overview
Komatsu’s North America region employs more than 15,000 people. As part of our initiative to cultivate corporate attorneys, Komatsu is providing a ten-week in-person summer intern for an energetic law student. Working directly with our attorneys, the summer intern will gain hands-on experience by completing substantive work in many areas of in-house corporate practice, which may include contracts and commercial transactions, marketing, litigation, privacy/data security, corporate governance, and compliance support. This is not a remote position. The successful candidate will work onsite at Komatsu’s North American operations office in Chicago, Illinois, located at 8770 W. Bryn Mawr Ave.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of Komatsu’s attorneys, primary responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with contract review and negotiation
- Reviewing customer-facing marketing material
- Researching legal issues relevant to a large, fast-paced corporate environment
- Assisting in-house attorneys with litigation management
- General support of day-to-day corporate legal matters
- Special projects as assigned
- Opportunity to network with and learn from Komatsu’s divisional business heads and attend meetings with senior leadership
- Opportunity to visit other Komatsu locations in North America and see Komatsu’s products in action
Qualifications/Requirements
• Applicant must demonstrate solid academic, extracurricular, and/or community accomplishments
• Effective writing, editing, research, and analytical skills required
• Student must be pursuing a JD degree full or part time at an ABA-accredited law school
Additional Information
DURATION OF INTERNSHIP:
Full-time placement starting May or June 2025. 10 week in person internship.
STIPEND:
A monetary stipend of $25.00/HR will be paid bi-weekly.

The Komatsu North America Mining Distribution and Service group is a critical part of our Komatsu global organization. We, sell, install, service, provide parts and rebuild equipment, as well as provide digital solutions for our customers. In the United States, we have a presence in 16 states across the US with 30 primary sites. We have approximately 1,200 employees.
