Maintenance Superintendent III - Military Veterans

The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for directing field work activities for Plant Fire system Maintenance. Superintendents are responsible for safe and environmentally compliant execution of field work activities, reviewing work for quality and completeness, reporting performance, and ensuring procedural compliance. Other duties include front line worker development and mentoring, planning support, materials support, work schedule updates, and fundamental labor relations.
This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control and supervision of WTCC.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS
- Perform all work safely with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees. Ensures all safety procedures, and processes are followed without deviation.
- Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations. Ensures environmental guidelines are followed without deviation.
- Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work.
- Field implementation of Maintenance work packages, work instructions, and procedures to support maintenance work activities including; pre-planning, material staging, needed permits, and coordination between support organizations.
- Reviews work performed for obtainment of objectives, policy compliance and priorities, effective coordination, technical adequacy and responsiveness to established guidelines.
- Integrates efficient maintenance and operations that follow company policies, client requirements, and governmental regulations.
- Approve crew mix and personnel assignments.
- Supports Labor Relations in determinations for front line worker awards and human performance issues.
- Provide mentorship for labor relations policy.
- Will be required to complete other assignments to support Construction, Start-up, and Plant Operations departments as necessary to meet evolving WTP Project needs.
- Perform work as a FWS as pertaining to LOTO activities.
- Obtain and work to permits as required to perform assigned activities.
- Warehouse management, and support.
- Review schedule activities for manpower, and resource loading. Provide craft recommendations for staffing needs.
- Provide status, and updates to the P-6 and project level schedules.
- Support subcontractors, coordinate needed training, and provide reports as needed.
- Attend cross functional meetings to provide schedule status, and updates to organizations that maintenance supports.
- Stand up and manage needed programs within the maintenance group such as; welding, M&TE, scaffolding, machine shop, hoisting & rigging, etc.
- Monitors assignments to ensure that they are within the agreed scope, schedule and budget and that the work is being performed within outlined policies and expectations.

- Emergency preparedness- Able to act as the "Site Superintendent" during off shift hours.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Could include activities such as corrective or preventive maintenance, instrumentation calibration, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, materials acquisition, production processes and engineering or knowledge of M&TE requirements.
REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
HS Diploma or GED and 10 years of supervisory experience in production maintenance, plant operations or work control is required.
OR
Associates Degree in Business Administration or related technical field and 8 years of supervisory experience in production maintenance, plant operations or work control is required.
OR
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related technical field and 6 years of supervisory experience in production maintenance, plant operations or work control is required.
3 years of Nuclear Facility experience required per DOE O 426.2. Nuclear Experience when used in reference to Nonreactor Nuclear Facilities, is experience acquired at any facility in which radioactive materials are routinely handled, stored, processed, or utilized. This may include non-reactor nuclear facilities, commercial nuclear facilities, test or experimental reactor facilities, or Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program facilities or platforms.
- Experience in design, construction, and operational training may be considered applicable nuclear experience and must be evaluated on a case-by-case and approved.
- Full-time related academic training may be substituted on a one-for-one basis for 2 of the 3 years' nuclear experience.
Preferred Experience:
- Maintenance or Operations, planning, work control or material control (including warehouse management), project scheduling experience, supervisory experience in the DOD/ DOE / ISMS / VPP environment is preferred.
- Outage coordination or execution preferred. Plant modification experience also preferred.
- Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls or Fire Protection Systems experience is preferred
- Craft/Union employee supervision experience preferred
- At least a Level 2 NICET in water-based fire system inspection testing and maintenance.
- Currently carry a WA State backflow assembly testing license or have previous experience in testing and repairing backflows.
- Previous experience performing or overseeing IT&M on fire sprinkler systems.
- Previous experience performing or overseeing IT&M on fire alarm systems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
(EFNM) Exposed Field Non-Manual- Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.
This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy (DOE) badge for access to the Hanford site.
Must be able to work in the United States without Sponsorship
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $112,835.92 - $178,251.96 Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
