Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator (IT Sr Assoc 3) - Provisional GENERAL DUTIES I.T. Senior Associates perform highly complex professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Senior Associates perform a range of work in development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include diagnosing, evaluating, overseeing and resolving highly complex projects. They have wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may serve in lead roles on complex programs or projects, and/or serve as a direct supervisor of a unit or group. I.T. Senior Associates should demonstrate mastery of one or more technology-related disciplines, decision-making ability in situations related to those disciplines, and be able to serve as a resource in these areas. The full specification is available on our web site at http://www.cuny.edu/about/administration/offices/hr/classified-civil-service/ccsjobs/ CONTRACT TITLE IT Senior Associate FLSA Exempt CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION The Office of Computing and Information Services (CIS) at the City University of New York (CUNY) supports the IT and telecommunications needs of CUNY's 26 colleges. CIS supports enterprise IT and applications and identifies and develops new technologies that advance the University's core mission. CIS operates and maintains the University's network, the enterprise Data Center, and the CUNY Service Desk, manages the processes that safeguard the University???s IT assets, and maintains the security posture by operating the CUNY Security Operations Center (SOC). Additionally, CIS develops disaster recovery plans for business continuity, supports the CUNYfirst Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution that integrates student administration, financial management, and human resources operations across CUNY???s 26 colleges. Lastly, CIS provides strategic and operational IT leadership to all CUNY campuses. Reporting to the Academic Collaboration Technology Applications Support Manager, the Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator will be responsible for providing high-quality support to the University end user by managing the Learning Management Systems (LMS) to enhance teaching and learning. This role requires close collaboration with internal and external partners including business owners such as the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA), hosting services, instructional technologists and support, project management, development, platform, QA teams, and end users. The LMS Administrator will manage and maintain the LMS systems, ensuring they are up-to date, fully functional, and available to learners. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Maintains, configures, and supports LMS platforms during and after the Blackboard Learn (Anthology) to Brightspace (D2L) transition period. Provides functional and technical support, administers the technical settings of Brightspace to ensure customizations meet the needs of each of the 26 colleges; resolves technical issues, and ensures a positive user experience. Manages system role assignments; audits and monitors LMS user data and supports the development of new reports and dashboards used for ongoing improvement and compliance. Partners with development team for system integrations such as SIS, course scheduler, etc; serves as the point of escalation for LMS troubleshooting, Develops custom widgets and integrations using JavaScript, Python, and API. Creates Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Partners with business units, such as the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA), Human Resources, Compliance, etc., and manages self-paced e-learning modules, videos, knowledge checks, surveys, and training resources within LMS; trains, coaches, and supports internal and external end users; deploys e- learning tools as needed; develops and maintains user guides, training materials, and other documentation to support learners and faculty in using LMS. Partners with the Office of Disability Services to ensure LMS and course content are compliant with ADA and accessibility regulations. Delivers timely remediation of reported software application issues; prioritizes multiple open issues to ensure helpdesk tickets are resolved in a timely manner. Performs special ad hoc requests, projects, initiatives as needed, and other related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position, as assigned. Notes: Until further notice, tUntil further notice, this position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. An appointment to this Competitive title/position in the Classified Civil Service Title Series will be made with a Provisional status. Employees in provisional status must pass a competitive civil service examination and be appointed from a civil service list to remain in the title/position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent An equivalent of ten years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: ten years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus eight years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus six years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position Demonstrated English Language proficiency A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions. This title has three levels. In addition to the minimum qualifications above, To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Preferred: The ideal candidate should demonstrate or possess: 6+ Years of Learning Management Systems administration experience such as D2L Brightspace, Blackboard Learn, etc. Strong experience with e-learning tools, and instructional design principles. Familiarity with SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model), AICC (Aviation Industry CBT [Computer-Based Training] Committee), Tin Can API (Experience API), and other e-learning standards. Knowledge of virtual instructor-led training platforms (such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Collaborate, etc.). Strong knowledge of: accessibility and usability standards for e-learning. front-end and back-end development, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and back-end languages like Python, Java, and Node.js. web services technologies, including XML, REST, and API. Familiarity with SQL, Oracle, MySQL, POSTGRESQL, or other relational database systems. Advanced knowledge of Unix shell scripting (bash) and PowerShell scripting. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work with and articulate the needs of students, faculty, and staff. Excellent project management, communication, and problem-solving skills. Stays up to date with the constant change in learning and development to provide relevant advice and guidance related to the University LMS. Knowledge of * Security protocols such as SSL and TLS; Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows Server, UNIX / Linux. COMPENSATION The salary is $109,560.
