Job Summary
This position will take on the responsibilities of a full range of Substation construction and maintenance work on electrical distribution and transmission substations. This position works inside energized and de-energized substations. This position requires a Class A CDL license with HAZMAT endorsement within 6 months of hiring. Planned and unplanned overtime work will be required. The majority of the work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions and is considered "heavy labor" which is not limited to but includes the following: Climbing steel structures and working off ladders and aerial lifts. Working with lift tools and material up to 75 pounds on the ground and aloft.
Due to weight limits on equipment, weight restriction not to exceed 290 pounds.
Various duties include:
+ Climb steel structures and work off ladders and aerial lifts
+ NERC requirements
+ Drive and/or operate vehicles for long distances
+ Operate heavy equipment to construct and maintain distribution and transmission substations
+ Working with mineral oils, paints, compressed gases i.e. air, nitrogen, SF-6 etc. battery acids, PCB’s, solvents, explosives, pumps, etc.
The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Class A CDL learner's permit within 1 month of employment and a CDL with Dominion training within 6 months of employment.
Working Conditions Include:
+ Work schedule is 4 X 10 hour days Monday thru Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
+ Work outdoors 95% of a normal day
+ Work in inclement weather as needed or service dictates
+ Must be available for overtime including extended workdays
This is a Local 50 union represented position with a starting pay rate of $23.95 per hour.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
+ The ability to lift up to 75lbs is required
+ The ability to climb steel structures and work off ladders and aerial lifts.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Class A CDL with HAZMAT endorsement or CDL learner's permit.
+ Previous electric and/or utility experience is a plus.
+ Experience with forklift operations, aerial lifts, power driven equipment, painting, cutting equipment, pneumatic equipment and hydraulic equipment.

+ Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above.

Test Description
This job requires "recommended" test results from Modern Hire Electrician Virtual Job Tryout administered online. The assessment is untimed, but usually takes about 45 minutes to complete.
