Job Description
This position reports to the Superintendent of Nuclear Major Projects Implementation and is responsible for the overall implementation and testing of multi - discipline complex assigned nuclear plant projects, which requires years of experience to move these projects to completion. The Lead Nuclear Construction Management Specialist (NCMS) is responsible to support the Project Manager as directed in the project plan and manage the overall construction of plant modification(s) assigned.
Responsibilities of the Lead NCMS include the following: management of complex project implementation including budget and schedule adherence, construction contract management, implementation, resource allocation, installation, acceptance testing, and oversight of construction and vendor personnel. The Lead NCMS will provide interface directly or through the Superintendent of NMP Implementation, with online scheduling, outage management, and ALARA to ensure proper incorporation of Nuclear Major Projects modifications with the site work schedules. The Lead NCMS will assure the project construction activities adhere to the site standards in the areas on nuclear safety, industrial safety, and human performance.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensures that a safety culture is inherit in all work activities throughout all project phases and Serves as the job and/or badge sponsor for assigned workers or contractors
- Prepares or reviews project safety plans, JHA's (Job Hazard Analysis), and vendor safety plans, Prepares or reviews critical/complex evolution plans, Conducts and documents periodic safety inspections and observations to ensure that Duke Energy safety requirements and expectations are being followed, Develops and maintains the implementation scope, schedule, resources, and costs for assigned projects as input to the overall project plan, Develops and maintains the implementation resources needs and costs for all Implementation projects as input to the overall Implementation portfolio, Provides day-to-day direction and oversight to the implementation teams as they perform their work to ensure it is accomplished productively, with quality, and in accordance with approved processes, procedures and project plans, Monitors the preparation and use of mock ups, Dynamic Learning Activities, etc., Supports the organization in meeting all programmat i c requirements, such as the corrective act i on program, self - assessme n ts, job observations , training, etc., are met, and Possesses ability to lead multidiscipline multiple complex projects
- Support the Site Emergency Response Organization, Coordination of the Implementation Plan with other site organizations. ALARA impacts will also be closely coordinated with site ALARA groups.
Basic Qualifications
- High School / GED
- 7 years required related work experience
- In Lieu of Degree, Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) and 10 years required related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Construction Management
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team toward a positive safety culture, including a working knowledge of OSHA and Safe Work Practice standards
- Proven track record of taking ownership and accountability for own actions and t hose of the assigned implementation teams' actions
- Proven track record of working collaboratively with project teams and other organizations
- Ability to track Resource and Budget needs for overall Implementation Portfolio
- Flexibility to assume additional roles assigned by Superintendent
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with station group interfaces required during project implementation (Operations, Maintenance, Work Control, Radiation Protection, EHS, Chemistry, Site Services, Supply Chain)
- Ability to work with suppliers, vendors, contingent resources and plant personnel to facilitate common goals for success
- Strong command and control s kills
Working Conditions
- Onsite Mobility Classification - Work will be performed at a company facility.
Specific Requirements
- Must have (or be capable of obtaining) Unescorted Nuclear Access.
- Must be able to work extended hours as necessary.
- Position is On Site Full Time (Non-Hybrid position)
- Must maintain schedule adherence while ensuring safety is top priority.
- 5 years of nuclear experience
