IBP-Postdoctoral Positions- Cellular Mechanobiology-2025
University of California Los Angeles
Requisition Number: JPF10077
Postdoctoral Researcher Positions:
Cellular Mechanobiology, Cancer Drug Discovery, and High Throughput Screening
We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral researchers to join our team in advancing research in cellular mechanobiology. The successful candidate will be passionate about driving discoveries that have both fundamental and translational impact. We are looking to identify lead researchers for two recently-funded projects that deploy the deformability screening platform developed by our lab to: 1) Identify novel targets for cancer by conducting a high throughput deformability screening; and 2) Identify novel mediators of cell membrane mechanics and mechanoadaptability using deformability screening approaches.
The successful candidates will have a PhD in a relevant area of Life Sciences (e.g. cell biology, cancer biology), Physical Sciences or Engineering (e.g. mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, physics). Experience with mechanobiology, high throughput screening, drug discovery, and/or cell culture is preferred but not essential. The applicant must be highly self-motivated, ambitious, and demonstrate an excellent record of scientific achievements. Excellent skills in scientific communication, both orally and in writing, are expected. Effective collaboration with the UCLA Molecular Screening Shared Resource is essential for both projects. A strong drive to pursuing a career in academia is vital. The successful applicant will join a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary research environment with opportunities for mentorship of our diverse team of junior trainees. They will also join the vibrant research community of UCLA, which has a strong community of researchers in mechanobiology.
For questions about the position, please contact Professor Rowat. Candidates interested in the position should send a full CV as well as a cover letter that includes a brief statement of their research experience and interests. If selected for an interview, candidates will be asked to provide names of three references
