Rsch Pro 2-Data Analytics - Military Veterans
at HERC- Upper MidWest
Job description:
The job is motivated by the need of data integration analysis of large-scale multi-omics data that have been generated in the lab, such as long read DNA-/RNA-sequencing, DNA methylation, biomedical image, etc. The goal is to utilize the complementary advantages of these data to understand the coordinated pathogenic regulatory pathway from different angles.
Responsibilities:
50% - Conduct long read sequencing data analysis:
Implement Nanopore/Pacbio long read data analysis pipelines, including
o Long read DNAseq pipelines: base calling, SNP/mutation calling, DNA methylation calling, etc.
o long read RNA-seq pipelines, alternative splicing calling, RNA modification calling, etc.
o long read metagenomic pipelines, microbiome genome assembly, taxonomic identification, etc.
Perform integrative multi-omics data analysis, such as association study between DNA methylation/SNP and clinical variables, association between differentially expression alternative splicing calling and RNA modification, host and microbiome interaction, etc.
50% - Reproduce/implement existing multi-omics data integration methods:
Install existing machine learning model/software for clinical and multi-omics phenotype prediction.
Use transferring learning method to adapt pre-trained model parameters to our in-house multi-omics data.
Maintain and update the software for the long-term usage in the lab.
Other duties as assigned.
All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a biological science or mathematics related field with two years of experience or a combined six years of education and research (e.g., applied statistics or bioinformatics).
Proficiency in long read sequencing data analysis and machine learning.
Pprogramming skill in Python and Linux bash.
Detail-oriented and highly organized.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Nanopore/Pacbio long read sequencing bioinformatics data analysis.
