Job Overview



 

Provides the resource to procure and expedite the delivery of parts to support expected demand and replenishment requirements to improve overall availability and minimize backorder status.  

Responsible for expediting non-stock and stock backorders as well as ensuring  adequate inventory levels to meet distributor requirements.  Accountability to identify supplier deficiencies and recommend actions for improvement to team management, including supplier leadtime inaccuracies and any other issues that may affect overall availability goals.  Responsible for achieving supplier performance metrics and making  fact-based decisions on supplier overtime as well as managing a proportional share of premium freight budget.  Additional responsibility to collaborate with planners to ensure pro-active  coverage of expected requirements including demand, kits, firm future orders.


 



Key Job Responsibilities



 

•    Aggressively expedite suppliers to ensure adequate inventory levels are in place to support DB requirements and department goals.


•    Identify supplier deficiencies through “5 Why” root cause analysis and recommend actions for improvement including supplier meetings, visits, etc. to team management.


•    Routinely research all options available for improvement of delivery dates to meet the requirements. 


•    Analyze and make decisions on alternate sources of supply, i.e. Komatsu affiliates, surplus, dealer inventory, etc. to ensure prompt resolution of backorders and avoid stock out situations at PDC.


•    Effectively analyze and make sound business decisions concerning supplier overtime, minimum order requirements, quantity pricing, etc. to ensure best utilization of company assets.


•    Actively participate in team meetings and offer suggestions for process improvements.


•    If assigned, responsibility for expediting and managing core return for remanufactured product to support KAC Reman business.


•    Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


 



Qualifications/Requirements



 




•    Seasoned general business or industry experience.  High school diploma required.  College degree a plus.


•    Extreme sense of urgency and outstanding organizational and follow-up skills.


•    Personally accountable and welcomes responsibility.


•    Functional level skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. 


•    Ability to communicate orally effectively and professionally and in written form with suppliers and internal functions within KAC.


•    Prior experience with logistics data systems and the ability to quickly develop deep working knowledge of internal systems such as PIPS, PREPS, CSS and SAP as well as manufacturing computer systems such as Baan, PWINS, Inventory Planning System, etc.


•    General knowledge of manufacturing processes a plus.

The Komatsu North America Mining Distribution and Service group is a critical part of our Komatsu global organization.  We, sell, install, service, provide parts and rebuild equipment, as well as provide digital solutions for our customers.  In the United States, we have a presence in 16 states across the US with 30 primary sites.  We have approximately 1,200 employees.
