Position Summary: The Shipping Clerk at the company is responsible for facilitating smooth and efficient operations in the shipping department. They play a critical role in coordinating and overseeing the loading and unloading of goods, verifying inventory accuracy, and ensuring timely and accurate shipments. The Shipping Clerk must be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
What you'll do:
- Coordinate the loading and unloading of goods during the night shift, ensuring the accurate and timely movement of products.
- Verify and reconcile inbound and outbound shipments, checking for accuracy and completeness against documentation and purchase orders.
- Maintain inventory accuracy by conducting regular cycle counts, investigating discrepancies, and reporting any issues to the appropriate teams.
- Prepare shipping and delivery documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, and shipping labels.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff, drivers, and other departments to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Utilize computer systems or software to track shipments, update inventory records, and generate reports as required.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulations during the shipping and receiving processes.
About you:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in logistics or related field is a plus.
- Previous experience in a shipping or warehouse environment, preferably in the food distribution industry.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in verifying and documenting shipments.
- Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures, including familiarity with bills of lading, packing lists, and shipping labels.
- Proficiency in using inventory management systems or software, and the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment, including lifting and moving heavy objects.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with colleagues and coordinate shipping activities.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and practices in a warehouse or shipping environment.
- Availability to work night shifts and weekends as required by the company's operational needs.
