From the exceptional service at the check-in counter to the departure gate, and even behind the scenes making sure your checked bags arrive with you, our Airport Operations team keeps operations at our airports running smoothly every single day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directly responsible for managing a $300M+ labor budget and implementing resource planning best practice strategies and processes for airport operations in ORD (O'hare International Airport)
- Works closely with senior station leaders to optimize workforce resources across the station while adhering to labor contract constraints and meeting service and cost targets
- Optimizes workforce resources across departments for each flight schedule to support the achievement of ORD objectives
- Works with station leaders to deliver final workforce targets for each flight schedule based on schedule structure, process standards, labor contract constraints, volumes and risk factors
- Develops highly detailed analytics and tools to problem solve and drive successful resource planning outcomes
- Responsible for short-term planning labor delivery ensuring operational effectiveness and overall station personnel budget
- Responsible for long-term headcount planning; including hiring, attrition rates, etc.
- Proactively finds opportunities to improve operational and cost performance
- Create and maintain shift and vacation bids that reduce service defects while controlling costs and complying with collective bargaining agreements for all airport operations frontline employees
- Analyzes labor contract and potential service standard change and flight schedule change scenarios

Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or related field involving quantitative analysis
- 3-5 years leading a team required
- 2 years of relevant work experience required, preferably direct experience in a complex workforce planning operation
- Continuous improvement experience required
- Highly proficient in MS Office (particularly Excel)
- High level of analytical ability
- Strong, demonstrated team leadership skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Enthusiasm and passion for the airline industry and working in a dynamic, fast-paced operational environment
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

- MBA or advanced degree preferred
- Knowledge of scheduling tools (Inform, StaffPlan)
- Proficiency with complex data sets
- Experience with simulation software
- Data visualization skills
