SCOPE - MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN 2
Maintenance Technician II maintains production throughput and product quality by ensuring operation of machinery and equipment through systematic preventative maintenance and swift reactive maintenance during production down situations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN 2
- Minimize production downtime by quickly and accurately troubleshooting breakdowns.
- Eliminate production losses and improve asset life by completing preventative maintenance procedures.
- Work safely by utilizing LOTO and keeping a clean workspace.
- Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical components (gearboxes, chains, belts, sprockets, bearings, etc.) on machines, equipment, and conveyance systems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot electrical components (photo eyes, relays, proximity sensors, solenoids, motors, etc.) on machines, equipment, and conveyance systems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot site utilities i.e., boiler, steam generator, water treatment and air compressors.
- Maintain and troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, steam and mechanical systems.
- Communicate technical subjects verbally and written with maintenance team members, rooms managers, department managers and plant managers.
- Assist in mentoring junior technicians by providing training and guidance to help them develop their skill set.
- Train independently and with senior technicians to continue skill set development.
- Keep the shop clean and organized.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
SUCCESS CRITERIA - MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN 2
- Work unsupervised in a safe efficient manner always.
- Arrive to work on time, work full shift, and work overtime when necessary.
- Follow Safety/GMP/Food Safety/Quality/BRC policies.
- Complete work and tasks in a timely manner.
- Accurately record all maintenance activities for JTM management, BRC, OSHA and USDA.
- Communicate with supervisor and team members.
- Build strong relationships, learn quickly and problem solve.
- Train independently and with senior technicians to continue skill set development.
- Possess/develop a basic understanding of all manufacturing processes and equipment at JTM.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS - MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN 2
- Requires a High School diploma or GED.
- Certifications and/or 2+ year apprenticeship (preferred).
- 5-year minimum experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing facility (preferably food industry).
- Strong mechanical and electrical skills.
- Basic plumbing, painting, and carpentry skills.
- Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic and steam systems.
- Basic understanding of sanitary pipe fitting, SS tig welding, metal fabrication, and machining.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment and aerial lift equipment – certification preferred.
- Use of digital multimeter.
- Operational knowledge of robotic work cells and automated storage systems.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills including but not limited to MS Word and Excel.
- Previous experience working in food manufacturing preferred.
- This position is an onsite position.
