Laboratory Support Technologist - Military Veterans

We are seeking a Research and Development Laboratory Support Technologist to join a diverse team that helps tackle some of the most challenging issues facing our nation’s security! Our team conducts maintenance and operations of the Z-Machine facility and carries the overall responsibility of delivering high quality pulsed power to experiments in the center of the machine. You’ll be supporting the Z Pulsed Power Facility Energy Storage Section (ESS) and the Pulse Forming Section (PFS).
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Clean and rebuild components for pulsed power systems.
- Troubleshoot existing components for faults.
- Develop new processes to improve efficiency and safety.
- Maintenance and repair of pulsed power systems within oil/water tank.
- Maintain and operate pulsed power component testers.
- Work within a beryllium contaminated area.
- Use safe practices for all processes.
- Represent the ESS/PFS team during Z shot processes.
- Reach out across the division to support and build relationships.
- Assisting with Laser Trigger System (LTS) in ESS tank.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Minimum Qualifications (Required)
- High school diploma and 2-5 years experience maintaining and troubleshooting electrical or mechanical systems
- Experience with mechanical tools (wrenches, pliers, torque wrench, calipers, screwdrivers)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
Preferred Qualifications (Desired)
- A desire to serve the nation in this advanced research project and the overall mission supporting Department of Energy in Albuquerque, NM.
- Ability to model behaviors that reflect the clients' core values.
