F-35 Modification / Retrofit Planning Technical Lead - Military Veterans

Job Description
This position is an F-35 Initial Retrofit Plan (IRP) Technical Lead. The role will be located at the customer’s site in Ft Worth, Texas. This position will provide support to the Lockheed Martin (LM) Modification, Upgrades, and Overhaul (MUO) Team within the F-35 Global Sustainment team as a Technical Lead within the Initial Retrofit Plan team. The successful individual will work closely with the Tier 1 partners (LM, NGC, and BAE Systems) and the Joint Strike Fighter Program Office (JPO) during the initial stages of the Change Request process.

Primary Duties:




  • Provide technical leadership, guidance and direction for the IRP Development team. Provide retrofit engineering expertise and technical support in the development and planning of Air System modification planning activities; and after approval, managing the implementation of Air System modification projects.







  • Provide technical leadership and guidance for the necessary planning elements (mod engineering scope / retrofit approach, team size, skill composition, special facilities / equipment assessment, maintenance level, MKPL and TCTD authoring assessment, duration, cost, and schedule)







  • Oversight of delivering assigned MUO planning products such as Retrofit ROMs and IRPs supporting program need dates and Change Request (CR) activity







  • Identifying program constraints to ensure assigned modification projects can be executed within scheduled period of performance, allotted budget, and in support of planned commitment dates







  • Coordinating the appropriate support response for modification / retrofit tasks associated with specific engineering changes with in Integrated Test Force (ITF), JTD, Supply Chain Management (SCM), F-35 Global Sustainment Design Integration and Operations, and Air Vehicle Design Engineering value stream teams







  • Regular inter-organizational correspondence and collaboration with a variety of stakeholders to the CR process. Routine coordination with outside customer contacts. Represents the MUO organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with ROM & IRP development.



The ideal candidate will have strong analytical thinking and business acumen skills, be highly collaborative, exhibit exceptional organizational skills, demonstrate proactive thinking, operate autonomously as appropriate and produce superior work products under short deadlines. Candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
B.S. degree in Aerospace, Engineering, Aviation Management or related Technical field with a minimum of 5 years related experience. Education requirement may be waived based on specific / related job experience.

  • Fighter / Bomber Aircraft


  • managing multiple projects using long range planning techniques


  • F-35 IT systems (PDM, ALIS, CRM, JDL)


  • Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project)



F-35 program experience highly desired

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $102200 - $173700

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
