UXO Technician III - Military Veterans
at R&R Integrated Solutions
SpecPro Sustainment & Environmental is in search of a UXO Technician III/Escort. This role will work with the onsite team to identify all types of discarded military munitions and safely steer the team away while they complete their work at Yuma Proving Grounds (YPG), AZ.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
- Able to fully perform all of the UXO Technician I and II functions
- Supervise and perform the on-site demilitarization of munitions of explosive concern (MEC)
- Sweep GPOs, IVS, work areas, laydown sites, and staging areas required prior to field work taking place
- Prepare required UXO munitions response actions and/or range maintenance administrative reports
- Assist in performing risk and hazards analyses
- Conduct daily site safety briefings
- Supervise the conduct of all on-site UXO-related operations
- Surface MEC clearance will be performed within in the study footprint as required to support the data gathering to meet study objectives
- Support digital geophysical work necessary to achieve the DQOs identified to accurately assess and expand the boundaries of CC-YPG 35a if deemed necessary
- Inspect and certify and/or verify Material Potentially Presenting an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH) as safe, or as to the explosive hazard it may present for transfer within Department of Defense (DoD) or release from DoD control per current policies and standards.
- Destroy all MEC encountered within operational areas to ensure the safety of the geophysical team
- Monitors compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or outlined in the PWS.
- Graduate of a qualified explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) school with at least eight years combined military and commercial UXO experience. As an exception, a UXOSO may be a graduate of a qualified UXO school and have at least eight years commercial UXO experience, as per DDESB TP18
- Experience at YPG preferred
- Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification IAW 29 CFR 1910.120
- Current 29 CFR 1910.120 HAZWOPER Physical
- Ability to work outside normal work hours at short notice as dictated by work load
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret extensive variety of scientific and technical journals, governmental regulations, and deal with abstract and concrete variables
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior management, clients, project staff, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community and/or public groups
- Ability to work away from primary work location in excess of normal work day
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions
- Valid Driver License
- Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to operate a company truck/rental vehicle while onsite.
