Job Overview
Komatsu is embarking on an enterprise-wide initiative to transform our digital experience. We will be re-platforming all global primary websites onto the Adobe AEM CMS and adding them to the Komatsu.com domain. This role will be responsible for re-designing the online experience of Komatsu global websites and will also provide design support for eCommerce expansion, technology subscriptions and online training.
We are seeking a talented and experienced UX Researcher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in user experience research and a passion for understanding user needs and behaviors. You will be responsible for conducting various research activities to inform and improve our product design and user experience.
Key Job Responsibilities
Data Collection: Conduct qualitative and quantitative research methods such as interviews, surveys, usability testing, and A/B testing.
Data Analysis: Analyze user data to generate actionable insights and identify patterns and trends.
Reporting: Create detailed reports and presentations that effectively communicate research findings and recommendations.
User Research Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive research plans that align with project goals and timelines.
Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure research activities address key business questions.
Requirement Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document user requirements, ensuring that research activities are aligned with business objectives.
Creating User Stories: Develop user stories to capture user needs and guide the development process.
Documenting Functional Requirements: Document functional requirements to ensure clear communication of project needs.
Annotating and Designing Wireframes: Annotate wireframes to provide detailed guidance on design elements and interactions. Ability to create low-fidelity to medium-fidelity wireframes to help gain alignment around solutions.
Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest UX research methodologies and tools, and continuously improve research processes and practices.
Present research findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree - Human-Computer Interaction, Web Design, User Interface Design or a related field
- Minimum of 5-7 years designing mobile friendly, responsive B2B and B2C eCommerce websites.
- Proven experience in UX research, with a portfolio showcasing relevant projects.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis tools.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Modern web development practices including implementing UX best practices, responsive design and mobile first layouts
- Demonstrated graphic design skills to turn wireframes into high-fidelity visual designs.
- Experience with usability testing practices and methodologies.
- Experience implementing on-site personalization based on a user’s profile settings
- Experience implementing A/B testing
- Experience working with Figma and Miro
- Strong organizational and presentation skills; ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines and manage priorities, present, and share strategies, working across organizational teams to deliver results.

The Komatsu North America Mining Distribution and Service group is a critical part of our Komatsu global organization. We, sell, install, service, provide parts and rebuild equipment, as well as provide digital solutions for our customers. In the United States, we have a presence in 16 states across the US with 30 primary sites. We have approximately 1,200 employees.
Our group supports field operations at the customer mine sites as well as shop operations at the Distribution and Service Centers. A large part of our workforce focuses includes technical trades.
