Cable Installer - Military Veterans

MCA, your trusted advisor for wireless communications, data, and security, is seeking an experienced Cable Installer in the Manassas, Virginia area to support our In-Building Wireless Solutions (IWS) team in our fast-growing Data division.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Connecting electrical fittings, drilling holes, soldering, and performing all physical tasks.
  • Installing and supporting various cable types (coaxial, fiber, CAT 5/6, etc.) in commercial environments.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing problems with equipment as necessary.
  • Completing installations for a diverse range of buildings, including stadiums, motor speedways, hospitals, schools, office buildings, etc.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean environment including orderly of tools.
  • Learning new products, skills techniques from colleagues and manufacturers.
  • Completing all required paperwork and documentation.
  • Maintaining customer confidence by keeping service information confidential.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TEAM:
  • 2 years of technical experience, or a combination of related education/experience.
  • Experience with DAS and OEMs.
  • Knowledge/ability to read electrical and install diagrams.
  • Basic ability to test/troubleshoot electrical and system issues.
  • Ability to use basic tools and test equipment, including hand tools, power drillers, multi-meters, and watt meters.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing work schedules.

YOUR ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical environment requires the employee to work inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear; utilize personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to potentially hazardous materials, lift (overhead, waist level) from the floor, bending, frequently utilize near vision use for reading and computer use; be able to handle semi-frequent stressful conditions (cardiovascular), frequently work in outdoor weather conditions, frequently move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally ascend/descend a ladder, operate a motor vehicle, frequently position self to maintain computers or other equipment as needed.

On-call for critical systems maintenance may be required. First shift hours Monday - Friday, with occasional 2nd or 3rd shift and weekends depending on project schedules.

Travel as necessary to support company and customer needs.
