Assistant Professor of Mathematics / Tenure Track Campus Title: Assistant Professor of Mathematics State Job Title: Assistant Professor Department: Education Job Code: HA3200 FLSA Status: Exempt Funding: 7115-0100 Bargaining Unit: MSCA Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent, Tenure Track Timeframe: Academic Year Shift: Regular Academic Class Schedule Regular Days Off: Saturday and Sunday Supervision Received: Reports directly to the chair of the Mathematics Department Supervision Exercised: None Salary: $70,000 to $76,000 Annually (salary commensurate with education and experience) General Statement of Duties: The Westfield State University Department of Mathematics invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Mathematics with a specialization in statistics, applied mathematics, data analytics, or a related field with a start date of September 1st, 2025. The Department of Mathematics values active learning environments. Faculty in our department are encouraged to implement novel and engaging pedagogical methods that are active and inclusive. The successful applicant will have access to robust support and advising from the mathematics faculty as they hone and evolve their teaching philosophies. Westfield State University is proud to consider itself a teaching university. The teaching load is 24 credits each year, typically 12 credits each semester. Every faculty member in the department will be able to teach courses in the calculus sequence, upper-level courses for STEM majors, and introductory courses for non-STEM majors. Most courses are capped at 25 students. Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include but not limited to: Developing and teaching courses in the area of Mathematics including but not limited to: statistics, applied mathematics, data analytics. In addition to teaching, faculty are expected to engage in scholarly activity, which can take many different forms. Faculty provide academic advising and other support to students; opportunities to advise student research are available and very much encouraged. As part of expected service to the department and Westfield State, develop and support academic courses and programs. Job Requirements: Required Qualifications: Applicants should have, or plan to have by September 1, 2025, a terminal degree in statistics, mathematics, data analytics, or a related field. Additional Information: Salary: Salaries for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining agreements as well as state policies.
