Sr. Academic Program Coordinator & Undergraduate Advisor | Johns Hopkins University - Military Veterans

With the purpose of facilitating student success, retention, and graduation, we are seeking a Sr. Academic Program Coordinator & Undergraduate Advisor , who will serve as the primary advisor and point of contact for approximately 200 undergraduate students, helping them achieve their academic goals. This position will also support the administrative needs of the Academic Affairs office, and other advising needs for The Peabody Conservatory undergraduate student population. Through its Conservatory for undergraduate and graduate studies and the Preparatory, Baltimore?s largest community performing arts school, Peabody empowers musicians and dancers from diverse backgrounds to create and perform at the highest level. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Student Success Advising Serves as advisor to approximately 200 Peabody undergraduate students. Assists with course planning and registration. Liaises with the Peabody Office of the Registrar and/or Student Enrollment and Account Management (SEAM) on student enrollment, with a strong focus on new and graduating students. Serves as first point of contact for all Peabody undergraduate students, referring problems to the correct area for resolution and facilitating connection. Troubleshoots problems with registration and refer students to support services to facilitate success. Connects students to campus resources, such as case management, student disability services, and mental health services. Advises students on academic opportunities, requirements, policies, and procedures. Creates and maintains accurate academic records using degree audit software and SIS, document student meetings and notes in the student information database. Works with students returning from leave to develop and implement student success plans. Develops and implements intentional outreach strategies for students who have been or are at-risk of being separated from the University. Serves on the CARE team, working with cross-campus partners to develop and implement action plans to support students in need. Serves as liaison to Student Disability Services for students in need of academic accommodations. Addresss inquiries from families and prospective students as appropriate. Student Supervision and Program Management Selects, trains, and supervises a team of peer tutors. Establishes connections with Homewood academic support to explore resources available for Peabody students. Assesses trends in student academic needs and work to address these concerns through programs and services. Student Tracking Tracks student progress by running reports, analyzing student data, and communicating with students regarding registration, grades, and graduation.Maintain notes on student meetings and oversee storage of pertinent documents in OnBase.Maintain accurate records within and utilize Degree Audit; track student progress by running reports and analyzing student data. Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to interact productively with faculty, administrators, students and other academic and administrative departments. Excellent communication and consensus building skills. Demonstrated success in providing friendly, high quality customer services and effective outreach abilities. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to use common technology platforms. Demonstrated cultural competence. Knowledge of high achieving student populations. Knowledge of co-curricular academic experiences necessary for a comprehensive undergraduate experience. Sensitivity to handling of private information, and ability to keep confidentiality and adhere to FERPA. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or graduation equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred. Five years progressively responsible administrative/academic experience. Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Preferred Qualifications Three years of experience with higher education advising and retention experience.
