Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$225,000 - $330,000Position Brand Description:
The ETC Digital Innovation and Service Center (ETC DISC) will be primarily responsible for providing engineering technical services in the engineering disciplines that are universal to M&Q and not network specific. In addition, they will provide support and guidance on the digital engineering agenda and will own and support specialized innovation projects defined in collaboration with the M&Q networks. This team will serve all M&Q and won’t be network specific.
The Associate VP position has overall responsibility for the supervision, performance, and development of the ETC DISC team in their quest to deliver the team’s agenda. The AVP works together with other Corporate Engineering leaders and Manufacturing Sites to ensure proper support and functional stewardship is provided. The ETC DISC AVP oversees the area's workload, customer communications, coordination with 3rd party technical support, technical issue resolution, and regulatory compliance.
Key Objectives/Deliverables
1. Run the Business – Lead the Performance Management process by overseeing development of employee PM plans; conduct interim and final reviews; coach, develop, and provide feedback to reports; demonstrate and encourage effective leadership behaviors; support diversity in recruiting and development of team members; lead recognition, merit pay, and promotion decisions; lead talent assessment and succession planning activities; encourage shared learning within and outside the department; lead short and long-term business/strategic planning activities (objectives, budget, capital) to meet customer needs now and in the future.
2. Safety and Compliance – Ensure personal and team compliance with all applicable regulatory and corporate policy requirements; ensure appropriate safety practices and procedures are in place and are followed to prevent injuries; ensure the ETC DISC meets current Quality/ HSE expectations and is a part of actively monitoring evolving Quality, HSE and other regulatory expectations related to engineering.
3. Customer Service – Plan and manage overall workload and resources to meet customer requirements; maintain close partnership within the corporate engineering function (GFD, IFM, ETC, HSE), with manufacturing customers, and development.
4. Manage Functional/Technical Excellence - Ensure engineering function is reliably delivering technically sound work products; monitor progress of new technology initiatives; ensure staff stays current in the latest developments for the pharmaceutical industry. Support the development and maintenance of engineering requirements (Standards, Patterns, Master Specifications), Best Practices and Technical Reports. Provide efficient delivery of engineering discipline support and toolset. Work together with site engineering leaders to ensure capabilities under the oversight of the AVP are properly developed at the site level. Ensure ETC DISC maintains an external visibility of technological trends, becomes active in key technical forums and import best practices and technologies and to increase our influence and branding within the industry.
5. Innovation Agenda – Establish and oversee the execution of engineering innovation projects as defined and prioritized with functional leaders across engineering and M&Q network. Own and oversee the definition and execution of the digital engineering agenda in coordination with the M&Q digital agenda. Ensure the Equipment Development Group (EDG) has a prioritized working agenda based on M&Q needs. Promote across M&Q the capabilities available under ETC DISC.
Minimum Requirements:
BS engineering with min. 10 years experience including site and functional responsibilities; and minimum 4 years previous supervisory experience of engineering, or manufacturing. Effective people and team leadership; understanding of cGMPs in a manufacturing setting; outstanding communication (written and oral) skills; knowledge of corporate policies.
Additional Preferences: Multiple site and/or OUS experience desirable.

Other Information: Domestic (including PR) and some International travel required. Virtual meetings and teleconferences with the network sites are also held routinely.
