Your Role

This position reports to the Core Manufacturing Supervisor. The hours for this position are 5:00 am - 3:30 pm Monday through Thursday. This is an on-site position located in Voorheesville, NY.
As a Toolmaker, your main responsibilities will include:
- Operating all conventional machine tools, including turning, milling, and precision grinding.
- Laying out, making complicated set-ups, and machining to tight tolerances and finishes.
- Selecting feeds, speeds, tooling, and operations to achieve required results.
- Determining tooling required, including the use of grinding of custom tools when needed.
- Designing and fabricating necessary jigs and fixtures.
- Reading and understanding shop drawings and sketches.
- Making all necessary shop math calculations.
- Following manufacturing route sheets.
- Complete electronic inspection records.
To succeed, you will need
- A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Toolmaker or Toolmaker apprenticeship training.
- Ability to work with close tolerances of .0001.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Understanding of the working properties of common metals and alloys.
- Proficiency in operating conventional machine tools.
- Capability to design and fabricate jigs and fixtures.
- Competence in reading shop drawings and making shop math calculations.
