College Laboratory Technician - Dental Hygiene GENERAL DUTIES Performs highly-skilled laboratory functions and other technical duties in support of coursework. Sets up, maintains, and organizes student laboratories Assists students with setting up experiments and other learning exercises, and with the use of equipment and materials Maintains appropriate safety and hygiene standards Maintains required documentation related to laboratory activities Manages equipment and materials inventories. Job Title Name: College Laboratory Technician CONTRACT TITLE College Laboratory Technician FLSA Non-exempt CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION The Dental Hygiene Unit of the Allied Health and Sciences Department seeks qualified applicants for a College Laboratory Technician (CLT). Under the supervision of the Unit Coordinator, the CLT will be responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the Dental Hygiene Clinic and its equipment. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, duties include, but are not limited to the following: Maintain inventory and repair records; Schedule delivery and pick up of dental materials and equipment. Recommend and prepare equipment and materials for requisition. Work closely with faculty; provide audiovisual support. Help organize classroom materials, supervise maintenance of audiovisual equipment, and provide audiovisual support to faculty. Prepare reports and maintain files. Prepare and set up labs as directed by faculty. Supervise schedules and work of college assistants including completion of each assignment. Arrange student malpractice coverage. Monitor emergency cart for supplies and expiration dates. Oversee sterilization and infection control mandates and procedures. Monitor sterilization equipment for function and maintenance. Monitor Radiation Certification. Monitor Dosimetry reports with radiology faculty. Maintain liaison with manufacture reps. Perform other duties as assigned by Unit Coordinator and/or Clinical Coordinator. Maintain MSDS Information Log. Essential duties require in-person presence. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS The following qualifications are preferred: Two years??? experience with routine maintenance and operation of the Dental Hygiene Clinic. Must be a licensed Dental Hygienist in the State of New York with (2) years??? experience, or a bachelor???s degree. Experience with supervision of college assistants and other areas as designated by the unit coordinator. Availability to work evening and weekend hours. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills. Experience working with diverse multicultural student populations in an urban educational setting. COMPENSATION $54,484 - $62,277; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
