The Department of Defense Management at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) is accepting applications for a senior lecturer (AD-5), to support research and teaching in the areas of strategy, strategic and critical thinking, and related.
Qualified candidates should possess a masters degree, or its equivalent, in a relevant discipline, including management, organizational psychology, strategy, leadership, or related, and have experience in researching and teaching collaboratively, as well as interest in being part of warrior scholar team approach to research and teaching. Experience with and research on active learning and its relevance for developing thinkers is a plus.
Primary duties include:
Research and co-teaching supporting projects on strategic thinking, the education of strategists, and the historical development of organizations fostering thinking and learning in a military context.
Work on funded research projects and support the mission of the Department of Defense.
About Naval Postgraduate School
The Naval Postgraduate School is a fully accredited graduate school with students from all U.S. services, as well as foreign military officers. U.S. citizenship is required. Salary is competitive and includes a generous locality allowance. Monterey is a short drive south from the San Francisco Bay area and is ideally situated along the spectacular central California coast.
NPS provides defense-focused graduate education, including classified studies and interdisciplinary research, to advance the operational effectiveness, technological leadership and warfighting advantage of the Naval service. The mission of the Department of Defense Management is to serve our Nation by educating U.S. and allied military officers as well as defense civilians in defense-focused business and public policy, by conducting research in defense management and public policy, and by providing intellectual resources for leaders and organizations concerned with defense business management practices and policies.
The Department of Defense Management at NPS has over 65 full-time faculty and approximately 15 part-time or intermittent faculty members. DDM normally has about 300 full-time graduate students, most of whom are military officers, and approximately 300 distant learning students (military officers and Department of Defense civilian employees).
To sustain academic excellence, NPS and the DON foster and encourage a program of relevant and meritorious research which both supports the needs of Navy and Department of Defense while building the intellectual capital of Naval Postgraduate School faculty.

Minimum Qualifications include:
A masters degree in a business management, organizational behavior, or related field.
broad experience (typically 6 years) as a faculty member in accredited institution of higher education;
evidence of excellent teaching; and
a reputation for expertise in the discipline in the DoD.
Preferred Qualifications include:
An interest and aptitude for being part of warrior-scholar research and teaching team.
Experience in research and teaching related to thinking in the context of wicked problems in warfighting context and organizations
