Akima Systems Engineering is looking for a Communications and Network Engineer to manage systems for the US Coast Guard's C5I Service Center.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for telecommunication and network planning; engineering analysis; network system development and implementation; development of testing and diagnostic software; development of communication network software development tools; and telecommunications and network troubleshooting.
- Provides functional and empirical analysis related to the planning, design, installation, and implementation of the network infrastructure.
- Performs maintenance of file servers and network devices including the restoration of hardware and software.
- Anticipates and mitigates potential attacks through network or other connections to ensure the security of the system.
- Works with end users and vendors to resolve network hardware and software issues.
- May develop and administer end-user training to achieve efficient utilization of LAN/WAN.
- Reviews progress and evaluates results. Performs work under minimal supervision.
- Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. May act as a lead.
Qualifications
- Baccalaureate Degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering or Communications Engineering and four (4) years of work experience in the field of communications/network engineering is required.
- A current System Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) or equivalent certification is required.
- A Secret clearance is required.
