Director of Planned Giving | Washington & Jefferson College - Military Veterans

Position Summary:
Washington & Jefferson College seeks an experienced and motivated Director of Planned Giving to lead the college's planned giving efforts. This role is integral to the college's overall fundraising strategy and will work closely with the Vice President for Development and Alumni Engagement to cultivate relationships with donors, promote planned giving opportunities, and enhance the college's legacy giving program.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy Development: Design and implement a comprehensive planned giving program that aligns with Washington & Jefferson College's mission and fundraising goals and contributes to significant endowment growth.
Donor Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with prospective and current donors to educate them about planned giving options and their impact on the College.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Associate Vice President for Development & major gifts officers and other development team members to identify and cultivate planned giving prospects.
Marketing and Outreach: Collaborate with the Senior Director of Development and Alumni Engagement Communication to develop marketing materials and campaigns to promote planned giving, including brochures, newsletters, and digital content.
Stewardship: Ensure appropriate stewardship of planned giving donors, including recognition and reporting on the impact of their gifts.
Compliance and Reporting: Stay informed on legal and tax regulations related to planned giving. Prepare reports on planned giving activity and trends for leadership.
Education and Training: Provide training and resources to staff and volunteers on planned giving topics, ensuring they can effectively communicate with potential donors.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, specifically in planned giving or related fields.
Strong understanding of estate planning, tax laws, and charitable giving vehicles.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse audiences.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and engage stakeholders at all levels.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in fundraising software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
10 or more years experience in higher education fundraising or non-profit sector.
Familiarity with the Washington & Jefferson College community and its alumni.
