SUMMARY
Provide leadership in vision, strategy, and thinking methodologies used to innovate new products and services, introduce novel or disruptive ideas, improve existing processes, and create a culture of innovation within Mortenson. Lead innovation projects using skills and experience in construction and/or adjacent fields. Experience, passion and expertise in electrical integration, material fabrication, coding/programming and/or advanced generative design is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and assist in prioritization of Mortenson's Innovation Stage Gate Process to help prioritize the development of innovative ideas created by the i4 team and by various Mortenson team members.
- Create a business case and return-on-investment estimate for prioritized innovative initiatives.
- Assist in the programmatic and schematic planning of prototypes and pilots for innovative initiatives.
- Produce conceptual, schematic and constructability designs for bespoke products, prefabricated assemblies and aspects of all buildings and infrastructure associated with Mortenson's market sectors.
- Explore and implement advanced design tools and techniques including, but not limited to 4D design, computational design, and generative design.
- Support operating groups in developing and advancing their annual business plans, specifically related to their innovation goals and objectives.
- Work with group leaders to crowd source innovative ideas and advance a culture of innovation.
- Build strategic relationships with established companies, start-ups, and academic institutions to accelerate innovation in the AEC industry.
- Monitor new/alternative technological trends and developments and utilize resources and tools to implement changes that will strengthen the organization as an industry leader.
- All other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS AND EDUCATION
- Strategic Planning - Thorough knowledge of research and analysis methods and techniques; thorough knowledge of statistical analysis and forecasting techniques. Ability to readily generate detailed estimates and schedules associated with individual projects and the aggregate of multiple projects throughout an annual cycle.
- Technology - Knowledge of general office equipment and personal computers to include word processing, spreadsheet, and related software. Comprehensive knowledge of office systems, practices, procedures, and administration.
- Technical Proficiency - Iterative design implementation in tools such as Revit, Tekla, Rhino, Inventor, Solidworks, Sketchup, etc. Experience in electrical/mechanical/low-voltage systems, fabrication techniques, building codes, construction materials etc.
- Data Analytics - Knowledge of organization and operations analysis techniques in order to study complex business issues, perform analysis between multiple datasets, conduct predictive analysis, and convey results to management.
- Communication/Engagement - Effectively work and build relationships with respect to diverse input, backgrounds, organization levels and feedback.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.

- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related EAC industry degree.
- Minimum of 6 years related to AEC industry or construction experience.
